a typo like? by accidentally hitting the key next to it.... well, actually down the keyboard on the other hand, AND in a different row... really hard to make that big a typo.

plat is S. African, or at least is there, as my friends form S. Africa use billy plat. :)

When I used to study drafting, "plat" meant a type of map but now...when I say "plats"...it means "platform shoes." I'm not sure this is any help but there it is.

In our world Plats or Platy's means platform soled shoes - which are fantastic btw cos it means she can have an even higher than normal stiletto heel at the back.
On the other hand the platform soles of the 1970's era were absolutely disgusting - huge chunky heels, no grace at all and the guys wore 'em too - ugggghhh

Plats=a pair of shoes, both shoes, Plat is one shoe.

Thanks to all who replied. The reference to a type of shoe sounds the most logical given the context of our discussions. That's why I like this site; it seems like a real community of like-minded people willing to share and help each other out.
